Waterfalls in Malibu
Who would’ve known? Escondido Falls are wonderful waterfalls right here in Malibu!
The Fabulous…
- A beautiful hike in with enough people to feel comfortable, but not too many to feel crowded
- Very large falls..there are actually 3 of them
- Dog friendly
- Free parking
The Not So Fabulous…
- We visited about a month after the big rains so the water was flowing. Ive been told if there’s another drought, the water disappears. Its still an easy and beautiful hike though.
The Details…
Escondido Falls parking is just off Pacific Coast Highway and then you’ve got about a 10 to 15 minute walk on the road (next to huge houses) which brings you to the trail head. So just know, if you keep walking, you will get to the trailhead. We werent sure the first time and we just walked the road by the houses 🙂
BRING WATER. The hike in to the falls is at least another 20 minutes but very easy and in the tree cover so its mostly shaded.
The first falls are impressive (for being in Malibu). The 2nd and 3rd falls we never made it to because its a pretty steep and slippy climb with kids and a dog (and we hike all the time) but we were told the next 2 are even better! Enjoy!
